Ok Logiclife, i did not intend to start a war or anything of the sort. I was just giving suggestions in light of the fact that inspite of IV working VERY hard, nothing is happening on the GC front. That is the ONLY reason I put up this post.
One more thing. You mentioned that a lot of people are not contributing, maybe the reason is that not everyone wants a GC that desperately. Some people are fine with working here temporarily and then going back after making some money. Besides some members who have contributed in the past may be wondering if it even makes sense to contribute again, being that there has been no real progress on the GC front since Dec 2005 (the birth of IV). Now do not get me wrong I KNOW how hard the IV team has worked and how many time we came SO SO SO close to getting our dreams realized in the Senate only to be crushed in the house again.
My point was, maybe it is time to face the facts. The government has changed but the basic attitude towards the "immigrant" is the same. This is because the average American, views immigrants as a threat. Now we can argue all we want on that statement, but in our hearts we know that the "AVERAGE American" would rather Not have immigrants come to the US (legal or illegal). In light of these events does it not make sense to ask for simpler goals? Goals like 485 filing or H4 Eads etc. Sure it makes us look weak in front of the anti-immigrants, but then are we here to solve our problems or to prove the anti-immigrants wrong?

So, in that aspect, Comprehensive/Fixed appears to NOT matter at all. These are just pricey nouns. I can't believe that K.V.Rao's insurance lying publicly that it's a not-for-profit. These ridiculous kinds, stoop to such a level of cheating people with a Indian name on it.
I'm still open for any recommendations here. I appreciate all your comments & suggestions so far.

Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.

When one switch employers using H1 transfer, the previous employer has to notify USCIS that you are no longer employed with them. The soft LUD's that you are seeing is a result of USCIS going back to the old employers and confirming that you are indeed not working with them...
Its just a procedural thing and nothing to worry about....

Not a bit. If you want I can give you a plenty... L1 is for intercompany transfer. But So far I have seen companies put people only at the client place and their salary is starting at 32K and they are put up at extended staty, asked to share the cab or car. So let me know if you want and I can directly let you talk to those guys.

So our common goal is to fix the broken system, remove the employer's undue advantage over the employee. No matter if they are MNC or desi consulting companies. Why the employee is tied to the employer when there is the need/demand for the skill set. Thats the only thing which is driving down the wages.
I fully agree with this. L1's being placed at Client's place is ILLEGAL. I have several proof's of this. TCS, Infy, CTS and LT do FAVOR their employees with a gift of filing in EB1 because these guys WOULD not complain to any one what they are paid and their benefits.

Can someone work for company A (with green card pending for 8 years) and start green card process thru other company to port to EB2(part time employment). Can they do that. I mean basically working for two companies until you get your green card, then quit company B and continue working for company A. Did anyone do this? Is this a possible scenario?
Quitting company B right after getting GC would be fraud/misrepresentation.
After getting GC through B, he/she needs to work for B (usually 6 months or so...)

1. Being on H1 more than 6 years and waiting for GC means you have been stuck in the same job for several years.
2. You can't start a masters because you are not sure if you will ever be able to complete it
3. You have kids who are already growing up.
4. Your wife has been waiting to start working for years now.

I have somewhat uderstood the rulemaking process. What I fail to understand is that since the rule to stop labor substitution is the final rule, does it mean that this rule has been implemented? Or is the next step for OMB to approve the final rule?

Check with the educational evaluator. They are the one who will let you know if your 3+3 years degree will qualify with educational requirments for EB2. Of course you could get a negetive answer also but it is money well spent

I just thought I will play the devil's advocate.
It could be that $100 or $50 is a big amount for people. Maybe people do not make $80K a year, just half of that (there are may H1Bs like that). Micro-payments may be a better option for some people. Do we want to disallow those contributions as well? People who want to pay will pay and people who do not want to pay will not pay. I guess we just have to make sure that we donot deny the people who want to pay but cannot. :)
I am willing to go along with monthly payments as there seems to be a consensus on this forum that it is the best option.

It is simple: you could have a PhD and be on H1B but still not qualify for EB2 classification if the job you are in does not require enough education and/or experience to fall under EB2 classification.
You do NOT require Master's degree for EB2 classification or for H1B. The law does require "related field" but does not clearly specify computer science or anything.
You do require enough experience.
When applying for GC or during the stages, Educational Equivalency to US accredited Universities will have to be shown. This is the stage you might have an issue with showing that it is equivalent.
There have been thousands of instances where applicants have been disqualified from applying for GC and even their H1B revoked when initial degree was found to not be related to the occupation - examples: B.Com, B.Sc (Bio, Geology..except Physics/Math), B.Arch.

K , I see two views by two different types of folks.
View #1: This system sucks. Its not fair and just. America is a great country and land of immigrants and we chose to immigrate here. Lets work on this issue so that I myself and folks such as myself now and going forward do not have this problem. I will do what ever it takes. I personally feel that regardless of the outcome, it gives immense self satisfaction to commit to meaningful cause. Others might not feel so, but all of us believe that this problem needs to be solved and do what ever we can do.

Now My question is what do you want to accomplish on IV if you do not want to work on the issue, If you do not want believe in the core principles of this organization. If you think that immigrants are treated like dirt and again if you believe in that and because you are an immigrant in this country, you should have been putting up with a treatment like dirt, do you have an iota of self esteem?? Seriously, If you really believe what you are saying why do you even want to be here now? or why do you even want to have a backup plan that will again make you a immigrant some where else?? $$$ over ride self esteem Huh? Should I say that all of you those who bought homes and are having a life bought a home with 0% down and interest only loan so that you can save your taxes now and if your GC does not come through in 5 years, you will walk out with out any loss as you made hefty deductions and haven't paid single penny towards the mortgage and simply go to Timbuktu or Krakovia. I will not!. Just because you chose to buy a home and have a life does not mean that others dont. Every one lives their own lives. Those who dont buy a home live a life of their choice. Stop judging people. GC was not a risk or hindrance to you in buying a home but could be for Joe the Analyst. You might have deep pockets, Joe the analyst might not or have other commitments. Coupled with the lack of GC, his risk might be more than some one else.
