Kristen McMenamy

IN THE NAME OF LOVE

During an interview with The New Yorker back in March, Alber Elbaz, the head designer for the house of Lanvin, suggested a woman wear’s Lanvin when she is in love, not when she is trying to get a man’s attention. If he didn’t steal our hearts with that statement, he also posed in a set of bunny ears for the accompanying portrait, looking absolutely adorable. We love to think of this quote as the root of Elbaz’s creative inspiration, and from one season to the next we look forward to watching his vision play out in the print campaigns.

We’re not sure who Kristen McMenamy, this season’s Lanvin Woman is in love with (except maybe her cats in these shots), but either way we are obsessed. Shot by Steven Meisel, the campaign suggests something of a film-noir-meets-1984 sense of self consciousness. She knows we can see her, but who is she posing for?
